## Introduction
Page Annotator aka SwyftERP Screenshot Annotator (“we,” “us,” or “our”) provides a Chrome Extension designed to help employees and clients annotate web pages and report issues directly to our internal systems. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and disclose information when you use our extension.
## Information We Collect
We only collect information that you explicitly choose to capture and submit. We do not passively track your browsing history.
### 1. User-Generated Content
When you use the “Send Issue” or “Save Screenshot” features, the extension captures:
* **Screenshots:** An image of the visible area of the active browser tab.
* **Page URL:** The web address of the page you are annotating.
* **Annotations:** Any drawings, shapes, or text notes you add to the screen.
* **Descriptions:** Text you enter into the “Issue Description” field.
### 2. Settings and Configuration
To function correctly, the extension stores the following configuration data locally on your device using Chrome Sync Storage:
* Target Server URL (Frappe URL).
* Authentication Credentials (API Key/Secret).
* Local preference settings (e.g., save folder name).
## How We Use Your Information
The information collected is used solely for the following purposes:
* **Issue Reporting:** To allow you to communicate visual bugs, feedback, or change requests to the development team.
* **Troubleshooting:** The URL and screenshot help us reproduce and fix errors on the specific web pages you are viewing.
## Data Transmission and Storage
* **Server Transmission:** When you click “Send,” the data (Screenshot, URL, Annotations, Description) is transmitted securely via HTTPS to the specific Frappe server instance configured in the extension settings.
* **Local Downloads:** When you click “Save,” the data is downloaded directly to your computer’s hard drive.
* **No Third-Party Tracking:** We do not send your data to advertising networks, data brokers, or any third-party analytics services. The data goes only to the server you have configured.
## Permissions
The extension requests the following permissions for specific functional reasons:
* `activeTab`: To capture the screenshot of the current page when you initiate the action.
* `storage`: To save your server URL and API credentials so you don’t have to enter them every time.
* `downloads`: To save screenshots and metadata files to your computer.
* `scripting`: To inject the drawing canvas and toolbar into the page you are annotating.
* `host_permissions`: To allow the extension to communicate with your specific Frappe server instance.
## Your Choices
You have full control over the data collection:
* The extension only runs when you click “Start Annotation”.
* No screenshot or URL is captured until you explicitly click “Save” or “Send”.
* You can clear your stored settings (API keys/URLs) at any time via the extension settings panel.
